Remote video inspection of a used excavator for a Brazilian buyer

When the buyer is in Brazil and the machine is in China, a structured video inspection can reduce uncertainty before payment and shipment. This reference case explains a transparent workflow used to evaluate a machine remotely. It does not claim a named customer transaction and does not replace an independent inspection when the buyer requires one.

1. Confirm the machine identity

The inspection starts with one continuous shot of the complete machine, model markings and serial plate. The serial number in the video should match the quotation, invoice draft and inspection record. Ask for the hour meter, engine plate and any available service labels.

2. Record a true cold start

The buyer should ask for the engine to be shown before starting and for the dashboard to remain visible. Observe cranking time, warning lights, smoke, abnormal noise and idle stability. A separate view of the oil cap area can help identify excessive blow-by, but it must be interpreted by a qualified mechanic.

3. Test the hydraulic system under load

Operate boom, arm, bucket, swing and travel individually and simultaneously. The video should show response speed, drift, vibration, pump noise and visible leakage. Cycle the machine long enough to reach working temperature; a very short clip can hide heat-related problems.

4. Inspect structure and wear points

  • Boom, arm and frame welds or repairs
  • Swing bearing play and abnormal movement
  • Bucket pins, bushings and linkage clearance
  • Track chain, shoes, rollers, idlers and sprockets
  • Final drives and travel performance
  • Cylinders, hoses, pump area and control valve for leaks
  • Cab, monitor, air conditioning and safety devices

5. Ask for buyer-directed views

A useful live call is interactive. The Brazilian buyer or mechanic should be able to request a close-up, repeat a movement, hold a function, change engine speed or compare both travel sides. Save the agreed checklist and screenshots with the quotation.

6. Connect inspection to the import file

The selected model, serial number, weight and dimensions should be sent to the Brazilian customs broker before shipment. The broker reviews classification, used-equipment requirements and documents; the logistics provider then confirms container, flat rack, breakbulk or RoRo suitability.
